The New Honda Accord hybrid

The Honda Accord is a sedan with a long history in EUA, introduced in EUA in 1994 and now in its 11th generation, with a focus on technology and low power consumption. The model, which the brand considers the flagship, or top-of-the-line model, is available in a single hybrid version with the e:HEV system and features similar to its smaller Civic sibling. The Accord’s biggest feature is the e:HEV engine, which is already installed in the Civic. However, if the abbreviation is strange, there is a reason. This is the model’s hybrid system with two electric motors: one for traction and a generator for the drive unit and internal combustion engine. e:HEV means that the petrol engine is not connected directly to the front wheels, but to a hybrid set. It combines a 2.0-liter 16V direct-injection 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine with an E-CVT transmission. The transmission uses an Accord central torque control unit, unlike previous units where the pulley changes depending on acceleration. . , common in electric cars. It is a gearless transmission that performs only two operations: forward (driving) and reverse (reverse/reverse).

In both cases, the internal combustion engine is connected to his E-CVT, which is also connected to an electric motor, a motor generator and a 1.05 kWh lithium-ion battery. The function of this E-CVT is to always decide who will move the wheels based on the highest possible efficiency. This unit has 3 hp more than the Civic, i.e. 146 hp, and the torque has also increased slightly, to 19.2 mkgf. The unit responsible for the Accord’s traction is a 184 horsepower electric motor, the same as the Civic, but with increased torque of 34.1 mkgf compared to the previous hex’s 32.1 mkgf. The engine is also the most powerful in the set. Honda doesn’t talk about overall performance, nor does it reveal data such as top speed or 0-100km/h acceleration time. In this agreement, the values that really matter are the values of consumption. More on this later. The test drive provided by the brand covered approximately 200 km round trip to Mnisota and allowed us to test its driving performance in the city and on the highway. In both cases, the consumption is impressive. In acceleration and recovery tests, the model achieved higher average values than the brand without sacrificing a sportier driving style.

It did better, achieving speeds of 17.8 km/l in the city and 16.1 km/l on the highway, and an average of 19.5 km/l at full capacity. What’s more, its driving behavior is also impressive: “the most electric of all hybrids.” It’s always quiet in normal traffic, and even better when Sport mode is activated, which makes throttle and steering responses more intelligent.

This model also features a quiet interior. The Accord’s electric motor has been relocated compared to the Civic and now has parallel shafts, which the brand says means a new E-CVT. Noise and vibrations have also been reduced thanks to a new engine flywheel with front shock absorbers. Speaking of the difference from its younger brother, the internal sound insulation is also excellent.

The HEV system automatically switches engines.

In two of the HEV’s three operating modes, the electric motor takes over the entire drive. EV drive, hybrid drive, and motor drive. The highlight is how the modes switch. This change occurs automatically and is influenced by factors such as terrain, gas pedal position, and battery charge level. On restart, the driver is fooled by a virtual noise indicating that the transmission is “kickdown” when accelerating, but this is just a simulation.

In EV drive mode, the battery provides energy for driving. In hybrid drive, the gasoline engine supplies energy to the electric motor without driving the wheels. Engine drive is used during high loads or high-speed cruising, when traction is provided by the internal combustion engine. Additionally, this model allows you to switch the brake regeneration level to 6 levels (previously it was 4 levels).

The instrument panel will be digitalized and the multimedia center will be the largest in Honda history.

The ride quality, however, is what you’d expect from a luxury sedan, with leather seats providing good support and aided by an integrated body stability system. Highlights include an easy-to-read and visually appealing digital dashboard and the automaker’s largest ever 12.3-inch multimedia center with support for Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay.

For example, there’s also a new head-up display that shows the driver’s GPS instructions. There’s also a Honda Sensing safety package with driving assistant and eight airbags. Legroom is an attractive feature of full-size sedans, and the Accord doesn’t disappoint. This model is 4.97 meters long, 1.86 meters wide, 1.45 meters high and features a good wheelbase of 2.83 meters. Even though the half-sedan, half-coupe body suggests otherwise, backseat passengers aren’t likely to hit their heads on the roof.

Nevertheless, the cabin offers plenty of space for the front-seat driver, and the spacious feel is comfortable. There’s also an air conditioning socket for the rear passengers and two of the four USB-C sockets in the car, which can be used for things like charging your phone. The luggage compartment capacity is 574 liters, which is very satisfying for this model. The car is fitted with low-profile 235/45 R18 tires, and while only a small amount of rubber contributes to the noise that enters the cabin, it’s overall very quiet. Since this is a luxury sedan, the body has a natural slope, but it’s important to remember. This is not a sports model and is aimed at a more conservative audience that values good handling and comfort.

Therefore, the sedan is available in three colors: black, silver, and white, the first two of which are black interior and white and gray interior. It also has a 12-speaker Bose sound system.
How much does the
Honda Accord Hybrid cost?
However, all these predicates come at a price of $95,900. Honda’s asking price therefore positions the Accord as a cheaper option compared to its direct competitor, the similarly hybrid Lexus ES300h (355,690 reais). Another rival is the Toyota Camry, but production of that was finally discontinued in April of this year. In any case, the mission of this model is to serve a specific target group, who do not care about values and are interested in luxury and efficiency.
