Maybe I don’t even need to mention this, because every fan of the Porsche brand already knows that the Cayenne Turbo GT is the suve world record holder on the north circuit of the Nürburgring, traveling the 20.832 km in 7 min 38.925 s, which gives an average of 165.414 km/h — a sue! On a track that has already been used by Formula 1 and is still considered one of the most challenging tracks in the world, if not the most. So much so that all sports car manufacturers use it to validate the performance of their vehicles.
For those who hate the suve fad, I bet driving this version of Porsche for a few minutes or a few days, as I had the privilege of testing, will change their minds quickly. That’s right, it’s a Porsche and it’s a suve, a combination that couldn’t be more perfect for suve and porsche enthusiasts like me.

Power Train Note 10
The 4-liter (3,996 cm³l) V-8 engine with two turbochargers is phenomenal and Porsche engineers have achieved a calibration that has smoothness on light accelerations and emotion when the right pedal is pressed to the bottom. The 0-100 km/h h is done in a mere 3.3 seconds, which is brutal if we consider that the weight in running order is 2,220 kg. without power. It was a true test of self-control.
Everything else that could be described about this 90º V-8 engine would be mere details, such as having a cylinder diameter and piston stroke of 86 mm — curiously like the 1,998 cm³ GM Family 2 well known to us — , which classifies it as o as a square engine that uses four valves per cylinder with double phase variable control and valve lift on each bank, that the maximum power of 640 hp appears at 6,000 rpm and the injection cutoff is at 6,800 rpm, that the maximum torque is 86.7 m·kgf between 2,300 and 4,500 rpm. But in fact they are not details, they are the attributes of a perfect engine.
If 0-100 km/h is fast, what about 0-200 km/h in 12.2 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h? And the 80-120 km/h that takes just 2.2 seconds. That is, everything said about this suve’s performance is superlative.
Without the 8-speed epicyclic Tiptronic S transmission — that’s right, it’s no longer the robotic dual-clutch PDK — certainly this engine performance wouldn’t reach the four-wheel drive system with variable torque distribution between the axles so effectively. Gear changes, for those who want to do it manually, can be done using the excellent butterflies positioned behind the steering wheel, but I don’t recommend it. The engine revs up very quickly and the automaticity is much more efficient than any pilot to make the changes at the exact moment.
A more than acceptable result for the weight and dimensions — and performance — of the vehicle. For comparison, the average consumption declared by the factory, with European super plus gasoline, without alcohol and 98 RON, is 7.1 km/l.
Dynamic perfection
If the engine engineers had already got everything right in their area, the vehicle dynamics ones couldn’t be left behind, and they really did a Nasa-level job that let the 1,636 mm high suve defy the laws of physics. The steering of the rear wheels puts the Cayenne in the right contour in the curves and gives the driver a lot of safety and confidence.
had already driven this version at last year’s Porsche World Road Show at the Velocittà race track , but I didn’t imagine that this feeling could also be felt on public roads. And you don’t have to go outside the law to realize the mastery of suspension and steering calibration and tire choice that the engineers achieved. And it’s not that the stability and traction controls are in action all the time, but in fact the Cayenne rolls so smooth and easy to handle in the corners that follow, that a normal driver even feels more skilled than he really is? All this result is thanks to the adaptive pneumatic suspension with three adjustment modes, where even the anti-roll bar modifies the stiffness according to the condition of use.
If the car is great on the track of a racetrack or on highways with uniform surface, when arriving in the city and facing the holes, bumps, speed bumps and ditches of our roads, the suffering is proportional to all the good it delivered in other conditions. The suve gets to be tough and the reduction of tire pressure from 46 lb/pol² at the front and 49 lb/pol² at the rear to 36/39 lb/pol², respectively, recommended pressure for use up to 160 km/h, leaves the car less uncomfortable.
The steering system is a separate chapter, providing precision, response and effort in the right measure as you increase the vehicle’s speed. Everything is done so that the driver feels total control in his hands. Complemented by all this sensation appears the effusive sound of the V-8 biturbo engine. Nothing compares to this. And it is still possible to open the valve in the exhaust system so that the loudest noise fills the cabin even more.
Ceramic composite coated brake discs are standard on the Cayenne Turbo GT and provide stunning deceleration without any sign of fading or increased pedal travel. The pedal modulation is proportional to the desired deceleration and the ventilated discs at the front and rear — respectively 440 mm and 419 mm in diameter, play their part, along with 10-piston calipers at the front and 4 at the rear. ,And again, the excellent brake system or engine-transmission set would be nothing if it weren’t for the 285/35R22 tires at the front and 315/30R22 at the rear to transfer all the power to the ground.
Honest interior
Starting with the design of the rear seats that can only accommodate two passengers, and thus the vehicle is homologated, four seats. The pronounced central tunnel provides space for the gimbal and exhaust at the bottom, but also greatly increases the torsional rigidity of the monocoque, a very important element for the excellent dynamic result of the Cayenne.
The air conditioning system has four adjustment zones and 8 inflatable bags are spread throughout the vehicle to further increase safety.
When closing the doors, it is not necessary to knock, the soft-closing system takes care of closing them smoothly. Ambient light can be adjusted in color and intensity and together with Burmesteir’s premium sound system leaves the cabin comfortable to explore the performance and feel only the good vibes coming from the front V-8.

Exterior style
All SUVs look like each other, there are few innovations in design and external forms, but this Cayenne Coupe takes everyone’s breath away. It is a car that looks like it was designed to meet all the studies of shapes and proportions to deliver a perfect and harmonious combination. Even with the larger size, Porsche engineers still managed to leave this suve without creases on the sides.
Even the colors of Porsche cars look expensive, and they really are. But the combination with a generous amount of parts made of carbon fiber composite makes the SUV more charming in its details, with all this exterior design being enhanced by the 22” wheels and exclusive design.
Onboard technology
Apple CarPlay has wireless pairing while Android Auto still requires a USB cable. The multimedia center in the center of the instrument panel has a crystal clear image, the tactile response is fast, and it is easy and intuitive to navigate between all the vehicle’s adjustment functions.
Among the driver assistance systems, the negative highlight is the lane keeping system, which has a slow response and does not fully correct the route. Cruise control is adaptive, but the coolest thing to use is the steering wheel button that switches driving modes between Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and individually configurable. At the center of that button is the curious and useful overdrive button, which positions all power and control systems for peak performance for 20 seconds.
Through the multimedia center, it is possible to adjust the height of the suspension and select off-road driving modes, as the vehicle is prepared to face greater challenges, not only in terms of the track, but also of drivers.
