The New 2021 BMW-Série 2

The second generation of the sports car follows a more classic visual identity, without the gigantic grilles of the 3 Series and 4 Series; more powerful version has 3.0 engine of 374 hp

If you are part of the group of people who are not fond of big changes, good news: BMW presented the second generation of the Series 2 Coupé with a renewed look, but without inventing much fashion, keeping the classic kidney grilles (well) more discreet in relation to releases such as series 3 and 4.

This does not mean, however, that the new line is square. Focused on aerodynamic solutions, the sports car has a more robust appearance and slightly enlarged dimensions. It’s 10.5 cm longer, 6.4 cm wider and with a wheelbase that’s 5.1 cm longer — in height, it’s 2.8 cm lower. As dictated by the costumes of a two-door sports car, the visual highlights are the larger hood and the shorter rear — with equally discreet taillights, but with two prominent exhaust outlets and a striking spoiler.

The 2 Series Coupé will be offered in three versions: the 220i (with 2.0 turbo gasoline engine that offers 184 hp and 30.5 kgfm), the 220d (2.0 turbodiesel of 190 hp and 40.7 kgfm) and the most powerful of all , the M240i xDrive, with a 3.0-liter engine with 374 hp and 51 kgfm of torque.

According to BMW, the 220i and 220d versions will feature rear-wheel drive, while the M240i xDrive will be equipped with all-wheel drive (a rear-wheel drive version will hit the market in the future). All available versions will feature the eight-speed automatic transmission — in the BMW M240i xDrive Coupé, there is launch control, traction control and paddle shifters.

Inside, the new generation of the Series 2 Coupé is equipped with a pair of screens that work as an instrument panel (occupying 10.25 inches) and as a multimedia center (this one, measuring 12.3 inches). Among the safety systems available, highlight for cruise control (with braking), lane keeping and automatic emergency braking.

And for those who will ride in the back seat, the new Series 2 Coupé will offer air conditioning in three zones, to pass a little tightness, but with certain comfort… scheduled for December, with prices that should be close to US$ 50,000 in its most expensive version, the M240i xDrive. There is still no confirmation of the availability of the new generation in American.
